Position Title: Safety and Enforcement Manager

Job Description:

The Premier League’s Policy and Corporate Affairs team is looking for a Senior Safety and Enforcement Manager to lead the delivery of the organisation’s work in this key area. The successful candidate will work closely with clubs to foster and maintain a safe and inclusive environment for fans in stadiums, traveling to matches and supporting their team online. The League’s role in safety and enforcement is wide-ranging and includes working closely with club colleagues and a range of stakeholders on developing and implementing policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the police, government departments and relevant agencies at a national level to deliver policy on societal and security issues affecting football, including operational policing and counterterrorism
  • Working on safety-related matters with the Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) and providing a conduit between Premier League clubs and regulatory bodies as necessary
  • Leading on the League’s work to tackle hate crime in stadiums and, working closely with the Enforcement Team – Legal Department, online. This will deliver against a key strand of the League’s No Room for Racism action plan to eliminate discrimination
  • As part of this, taking ownership of the Premier League Commitment (a ban for discriminatory abuse from one Premier League club is a ban from all Premier League clubs) and initiating other policies to enforce sanctions against offending behaviour
  • Working with the Fan Engagement Team, developing new programmes to encourage positive fan behaviour online, travelling to matches and in stadiums, including education programmes

Requirements:

  • A working knowledge of the policing and security landscape in England and Wales
  • Significant experience of working in a relevant area, e.g., public policy, policing, government or a regulatory body
  • An understanding of the online environment, current and proposed legislation and challenges faced relating to social media platforms
  • Strong written and oral skills
  • Excellent collaborator and relationship builder
  • Great initiative and a willingness to put new ideas forward
  • An understanding of how to collect, analyse and use data to drive policy making
