Job Description:

The Intern Orientation sessions are being held over 2 consecutive Saturdays or 2 consecutive Sundays, and candidates may register for only one pair of sessions:  Saturday, May 8th and Saturday, May 15th, OR Sunday, May 9th and Sunday, May 16th.  We are unable to accommodate scheduling candidates in any other combination of session dates.  Each session will be 6:30 am – 4:00 pm.  Participation is encouraged but not required. Candidates who do not participate in this Intern Orientation or are not selected for this Academy can remain on the list and may be considered for future Intern Orientations or Academies from this list.

Responsibilities:

•  Must possess a valid Arizona Class C or higher Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME) or, if no CDL then must pass the written test for an HME designation by hire or promotion.
•  The skills demonstration portion of the Class C CDL test must be completed within 150 days of hire or promotion and will be administered by a City of Mesa Third Party Tester.
•  Must meet the qualifications to wear a tight fitting respirator by passing a medical evaluation in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.134 by hire or promotion date and must maintain certification.
•  Must obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification within 1 year of hire or promotion.
•  Must obtain Department of Homeland Security Chemical-terrorism Vulnerability Information (CVI) Authorized User certification within one year of hire or promotion date.
•  Must attend Confined Space training through the City of Mesa.

Requirements:

• Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a four-year electrical apprenticeship OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or related field.
•  Three years of experience as a journey-level Electrician. 
•  Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire date.
•  Must successfully complete operator qualification training administered by the Energy Resources Department within 18 months of hire/promotion into the class and must retain qualification throughout employment in order to work on the City of Mesa’s natural gas system.
