Job Description:

A customer calls. Her name is Alison, she is calling from New York about an issue with her MATCHESFASHION order. In her previous experience with other brands these phone calls are time-consuming and unhelpful so she is already preparing herself for an irritating conversation. Except that Customer Care means something different at MATCHESFASHION and it’s YOU that picked up her call.

Responsibilities:

• People. A software engineering team is nothing without good people. This role needs to support, motivate, and continue to hire a great engineering function.
• A key part of this will be our engineering culture. It’s vital teams have significant input into what they work on and how they work on it. Having clear career development frameworks and processes is also super important for the people in the teams.
• Support The Technology Strategy. Over the last 2 years the team has moved from once or twice monthly deployments to deploying several times a week.
• The team has also made great strides modernising the technology estate as we move to a more event driven, API based architecture.
• There is lots of work to do to keep up the momentum and the progress that has already been made.
• Our technology needs to provide a great developer experience, drive the business forward at pace and scale to meet the needs of our growing customer base.
• Giving this area focus and attention will be a key part of the success of this role.

Requirements:

• Exceptional communication, can work well across the organization from Exec level to juniors in the team to help get things done and provide “cut-through” to the heart of any discussion.
• Operates cross-level, from architecture and strategy down into the details when needed.
• Great people leader, someone who will win the respect and trust of the developers.
• Team player, able to provide guidance to Exec, senior managers and team members.
• Subject matter expert in technology leadership.
• Able to influence across the business.
