Job Description
As a Senior User Researcher, you will plan and lead user research activities in large teams and on complex services. You will develop research strategy and test design, as well as leading on expansive discovery research and analysis within the broad problem space. You will lead research using a range of methods, including usability testing, contextual interviews, pop-up testing, and will lead on rapid analysis that involves the wider team whenever possible.
Her Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO) is a directorate of the Home Office, the sole issuer of UK passports and responsible for civil registration services for England and Wales through the General Register Office (GRO).
HMPO are looking to recruit a Senior User Researcher to support on a variety of projects with users across both the passport and registration side of the business.
You will work within a fast-paced delivery team in HMPO – either across several smaller services or dedicated to one larger programme of work. Your research will inform policy, proposition, service, content and interaction design so that digital services work well for users and achieve their policy intent.
Responsibilities:
- This post is based within Training and Skills Unit (TASU) that sits within Enforcement, Compliance and Crime (ECC). TASU has responsibility for the delivery and co-ordination of operational training for front line ECC Officers nationally. Work is high profile and varied which includes leading on the sharing of knowledge, skills and best practices through training.
- PLEASE NOTE: This role currently sits within the ECC function of Immigration Enforcement (IE). There are several pieces of transformational work which TASU are in scope for, so its position within the organisation and the job description for this role may be subject to change. These changes will see the unit moving forward with new and exciting digital technology to fully embrace blended learning methodology.
- The post holder will support and build capability in the Training & Skills Unit by developing learning content using a Virtual
- Learning Environment (or equivalent) to increase the reach of learning.
Requirements:
- There will be a strong focus on developing immersive learning to engage, making use of our current systems such as Hydra, whilst researching other ways to expand our training delivery.
The post holders work will come from the Strategic User Board (SUB), the Grade 7 or the Senior Executive Officer or from the - Programme Design Grade 7 in any structure. They will advise how the learning topic could be interpreted digitally and will include developing and creating high quality, engaging, creative and vibrant visual or written content in a range of digital formats.
- This will include ensuring quality, consistency, and accessibility compliance of products and maintain currency on learning innovations and theory. The role will include reflecting on good practise and introducing lessons learnt to the design process.
