Job Description:

The archives, modern records, plans, audio-visual and printed material in our strong-rooms contain a vast amount of information about the capital and its people. This material dates from 1067 to the present day.

Responsibilities:

• A Services Assistant is required to work at London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) joining a team which provides a document retrieval service in a busy research centre.
• Driving the van to collect and deliver documents to the Guildhall and other locations, repository management services including space saving, internal moves projects, and a number of other tasks including the provision of support to other teams that may include aspects of security reception and technical services, and  working at the Guildhall Library.

Requirements:

• A clean current driving licence and experience of driving in London (or a comparable major city) on a regular basis, a willingness to drive the office van and good communication skills are essential requirements.
• There is a requirement for lifting and moving large quantities of boxes on a daily basis using ladders and trolleys.
• The Services Assistant will be based at LMA, but may be required to work at other sites.
