Position Title: Adult Career Advisor

Job Description
As the Adult Career Advisor, you will be providing case management services to adults enrolled in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program in various fast-paced, high-volume, performance-based environments throughout Maricopa County. You will utilize assessments, career coaching, job search assistance, and resource referrals to assist our customers. You will not only play a crucial role in making a difference in a person’s life, but you will play an essential role in strengthening our County as a whole.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses participants’ barriers to employment and arranges available area resources and supportive services as needed, including transportation, education, and emergency assistance
- Creates, updates, and maintains accurate participant case notes and files
- Meets with customers one-on-one or in a group enrollment setting to review applications and determine if the customer meets WIOA eligibility requirements
- Advises participants regarding secondary education, post-secondary training, resume development, and permanent employment opportunities
- Conducts program orientations, informational seminars, and one-on-one sessions with customers
- Assists participants in developing career and education action plans
- Assists participants with resume development and job search activities
- Conducts and interprets academic and work readiness evaluations and assessments
- Provides and tracks referrals to program partners and community-based service providers
- Provides intensive, sustained one-on-one support and guidance to a caseload of up to 120 during a period of program participation
- Provides labor market information on in-demand occupations
- Assists with job fairs, resource fairs, and other program events
- Conducts outreach in various Maricopa County areas to create awareness of the program services
Requirements:
- Two years of professional-level experience in Career Services, Education, or Social Services
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
- Must complete a background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to secure and maintain the Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- One year of experience providing career or resource guidance and quality customer service in a professional-level position
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
